MERHO FEDERAL CREDIT UNION was established in 1972 by some employees of the former Mercy Hospital. That is how we got the name MERHO. Credit unions have been known for taking the name of the employee group they mainly serve. Back in 1983 Merho combined with the Memorial hospital credit union and shortly after we welcomed members from Windber hospital, Cambria Residential Services, Laurelwood and Presbyterian Home, Atlantic Broadband and Bishop McCort High School to name a few. MERHO membership is like being welcomed into a large extended family. Someone once remarked we are like “CHEERS” where everyone knows your name and you’re family. We strived for personal service. We now have a membership of plus 6,000 and assets of 45 million. Our main location is 15 Irene St. and have a branch at 194 Donald Lane in the Credit Union Complex. Our 40th year celebration will be held March 24th at THIS IS IT BANQUENT HALL, Frankstown Road. A limited amount of tickets will be sold. Dinner and Prizes.

FUNDS AVAILABILITY POLICY
Our general policy is to allow you to withdraw funds deposited in your "transaction account *" on the first business day after the day we receive your deposit. The first $200.00 of your deposit will be immediately available.

Depending on the type of check that you deposit, funds may not be available until the 2nd business day after the day of your deposit. In addition, funds you deposit by check may be delayed for a longer period under the following circumstances:

· We believe the check you deposit will not be paid.
· You deposit checks totaling more than $5,000 on any one day.
· You redeposit a check that has been returned unpaid.
· You have overdrawn your account repeatedly in the last 6 months.
· There is an emergency, such as failure of computer or communications equipment.
· The account is opened on the same day as the deposit is received.

We will notify you if we delay your ability to withdraw funds for any of the above reasons. They will generally be available no later than the 5th business day after the day of your deposit. Funds from electronic direct deposits will be available on the day we receive the deposit.
* “transaction account” = checking/share draft account.

Promote thrift among its' members by offering to them a means of making safe and regular investments
To enable members to obtain loans at a reasonable rate of interest for worthwhile purposes

MERHO Federal Credit Union was chartered on March 2, 1972. The credit union is a corporation supervised by the National Credit Union Administration.

and an uncertain stock market) we have been receiving many phone calls
concerning insurance on member accounts. MERHO Federal Credit Union is
insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Please visit their

Due to the President’s signing of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act,
HR 1424, deposit insurance coverage has been increased to $250,000.
This coverage will remain in effect from October 3, 2008 until December 31, 2013.
