Students are selected from nine high schools in the Greater
Johnstown area. Two $1000 scholarships are given annually.
Students are selected by their guidance counselor with the aid
of the principal and teachers. The goal is to recognize
academically talented individuals who are also involved in
school and community activities. The student must have made a
specific commitment to attend a four-year college since the
organizations works to develop and maintain high standards in
education, strives to be effective in the solution of social and
civic problems, and endeavors to secure broader opportunities
for women. The program is open to both male and female students.
The annual used book sale held by AAUW--Johnstown provides the
funding for the awards.
