Girl Scouts provides an opportunity to learn, grow and have fun in an informal Troop/group setting with the guidance of caring adult volunteer leaders. The council's commitment is to empower girls with the leadership skills they need to meet the challenges of the future for a stronger, productive self and community.
The Talus Rock Girl Scouts Council also would like adult volunteers to assist in helping to shape the future of our communities' bright young women. The council offers support in organizing troops, placing girls in troops, assisting in arranging activities and maintains a library of supplemental resources.

There are 22 4-H clubs throughout Somerset County that provide a non formal educational program for youths ages 8 to 19. Volunteer leaders are the valued teachers in this family oriented program. Many projects are available for youth participation including animal science, plant science, natural resources, food and nutrition, and many others. Many activities are also scheduled including contests, events at the county fair and recreational activities. The Young Marines is the official "action" youth program of the Marine Corps League of the United States for ages 8 to 17 and the focal point for the Marine Corps' Youth Drug Demand Reduction Program efforts. Its mission is to promote the mental, moral, and physical development of young Americans. All of its activities emphasize the importance of honesty, courage, respect, loyalty, dependability, and a sense of devotion to God, country, community, and family. The Young Marines motto is "Our Youth is Our Future."

New recruits may join on the first Wednesday Evening of the month at 6:00 PM. Meetings last from 6:00PM to 8:00PM

The recruits must be between the ages of 8 and 18

"WESTMONT AREA YOUTH FOOTBALL has been established to promote and encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, enthusiasm and enjoyment through the sports of football and cheerleading to benefit all area children between Kindergarten and Sixth Grade with the participation of their family, friends and community."

  • Major Tackle (5th and 6th Graders)
  • Minor Tackle (3rd & 4th Graders)
  • Flag Football (Kindergarten through 2nd Grade)
  • Cheerleaders (Kindergarten through 6th Grade)
Registrations start usually in April of each year.

The Season starts in July for Cheerleaders and August for Football Players.
